Swooning Chimp

How’s it going everyone? I know we just had a holiday post for the lunar new year and valentine’s day isn’t until next week but, please, allow me to get a little ahead of schedule with today’s review. Because, as is often the case, my special showcase for the fourteenth of february is a limited edition that you’re going to want to grab in advance.

And, this year, it comes from the Screaming Chimp:

A delightfully jammy-looking hot sauce by the name of “Let Me Be Your Phantasy”, which they put out late each january and which holds a certain special interest for me, since it features the rare ají fantasy chilli. One which I’ve only come across once before.

Plus it just looks so inviting!

Somerset Chilli Choc

Hey folks, it’s february and I really appreciate all of you, for reading my reviews and making this blog feel worthwhile. Chilli is my love and my passion but it’s you, dear readers, who give my writing meaning. And so, with that in mind, I’d like to share my valentine’s day chocolates with you.

Chocolates which are, of course, very on brand for my site ;).

This year’s come to me from Somerset Chilli Garden – Not to be confused with The Somerset Chilli Co. – and were actually sent to me a little in advance of their public release. Since a friend of mine happens to live nearby and put me in touch, back when they were still just prototypes.

What I have now, however, are the finished release. Just a little bit early, in order to give you all a good look at what’s inside, before you buy.

Sweet and Seductive

Alright, everybody, we’re still a few days away from valentine’s day and I’ve got a review to write. You know it’s going to be a themed one.

Yet, at this point, nothing that I can show you is likely to arrive in time for the holiday. You’re not going to be giving it as a gift, so here’s something which isn’t just for february fourteenth:

Seductress

The Seductress, from Henry’s Hot Sauce. A product which aims to highlight flavour over fire and, in doing so, really make the most of its thoroughly roasted brazilian starfish chillies.

Its label is one of the worst that I’ve ever seen, placing black text on black to render its name illegible. Yet, as with the upcoming Sonic movie, I’m cautiously optimistic about its contents.

The starfish is, after all, one of the tastiest mild red chillies around.

A Mischievous Mousse

How’s it going, everyone? We’re already entering into the second week of february and, while that holds little significance for me, the rest of the world seems to place a lot of importance on valentine’s day. So it seems like now is the perfect time to bring you a recipe that I’ve been planning for a while.

MischiefMousseDone

Something rich, smooth, chocolatey and decadent, yet not without a fair kick.

This, dear readers, is a Midnight Mischief mousse – The perfect way to blend Saucey Lady‘s fruitiest and second hottest sauce into a delicious dessert for two.

Chocolate Chimp

Konnichiwa yet again, spice lovers, and welcome to another mildly japanese-themed post. This time, a tuesday review, featuring one of my favourite holidays and one of my least favourite companies.

WhiteChimp

You see, I’ve tried all of the Screaming Chimp’s main range (as you can find links to in my sidebar) and I didn’t hate them. In fact, I quite liked a fair few of them, I just didn’t find that the chilli flavour came across very strongly. And they took issue with that.

I don’t dislike their products but I’ve come to hate talking about them because it always ends in a twitter argument that I’d really rather not be a part of. All because I’m trying to give an honest opinion.

But today, I think things are going to be a little different. Because their limited edition sauce certainly is and their chocolate is perfect for a white day post.
