Creamy and Green

Happy tuesday, everyone! I don’t know if any of you follow my youtube channel but, today, we’re doing a little bit of a follow up to my 📽️ Exhorresco video 📽️.

That sauce was one of the hottest and most painful natural products that I’ve had but it wasn’t a bad taste at all, so I thought I’d try something else from its makers, Burns & McCoy. Something on completely the opposite end of the heat spectrum.

It comes packaged in far paler tones and what colour it does have is almost entirely green. You can immediately see that it’s not being sold on its heat and for good reason. It’s probably the mildest

product that I’ve had, just barely tickling the back of my throat when I eat a full spoonful.

So today, we’re going to be focussing far more on the flavour of this Avocado Fire Roasted Poblano vinaigrette, to find out if the company can still hold their own when they’re not melting my face off.

Peachy Keen

Hello again, everyone, and welcome to what could almost be called a follow up to the apple tart recipe that I posted two days ago.

Don’t worry if you haven’t read that one, though. It’s not a requirement for this sauce review. Just a dish that I made to go with it.

No, if there’s one thing that you should know beforehand, it’s The Prodigy’s hit song from nineteen ninety seven. Because what we’re looking at today is Devon Chilli Man’s tribute to it: His Smack m,Peach up!

A sauce that I’ve long been meaning to talk about, since it’s the only one that I’ve found with Jay’s famous Peach Ghost Scorpion – A chilli once thought to be a potential candidate for the world’s hottest.

But, before I dive in to talking about the product and its pepper properly, I just want to quickly clear up a misconception about the song for which it was named. Since, if the lyrics are taken literally, it sounds a lot like it’s advocating domestic abuse.

It’s not.

Smack My B🔥🔥ch Up is, as I only discovered when researching for this very post, code for getting one’s fix. Normally one’s fix of a different sort of smack but, in the case of this sauce, it’s sweet, superhot chilli instead. A subtle mention of its addictiveness, hidden within reference to the music of my youth.

Not that I was ever a fan of hard techno.

Does it live up to that meaning, though? Is it good enough to cause addiction? Will it cause the rush of endorphins often referred to as a “chilli high”? Does it even contain peaches?

Well, I can answer the last of those now – It most definitely does – but you’re going to have to read on for the rest.

Seven Pot Supernova

Hello again everyone and welcome to the third of my Burning Desire Foods reviews. Reviews of a brand I found ahead of time and merely met up with in person at Reading.

Today’s, however, is a little bit special because it’s actually a request. One that came to me from an online card gaming buddy under the username MeowMeowCat. Or, as he’s more recently started calling himself, “Solaris”.

When I let slip that I was looking at a sauce with his new name on it, he absolutely had to know how hot he was.

Me, though, I’m more interested in the flavour. The blend of honey, mustard, 7-pot/pod peppers and lime.

Midnight Red

Greetings, fiery food fans, and welcome to the first of my ECCC sample reviews.

Today’s offering from the East Coast Chilli Company is probably their most unique item – A rich, black, honey-based sauce that matches wonderfully with the equally dark label that adorns its bottle.

Habanero Carrot Cake

Hey there heat eaters, it’s time for cake again.

Today, however, we’re going a little hotter and taking inspiration from my garden.

As I briefly mentioned in my post on heat and size, I’ve been growing and thoroughly enjoying some orange habaneros. They’re the least floral tasting habs I’ve come across and they seem, to me, just a little bit fruity. Not in the acidic, almost orangey way that some other habaneros do but in the way a particularly sweet and juicy bell pepper might.

Not that they really taste like bell peppers, either, mind. Those are simply the closest thing I can put my finger on right now. These chillies are honestly quite unique, even if they are still recognisably habs, and there’s something about them that just made me have to pair them with carrots in a nice hot cake.

Smoked Spookiness

Happy tuesday oncemore, today I’m bringing you a sauce from The Chilli Alchemist.

Their proudest work, their Smoke Potion: Magnum Opus. Which is an upgrade to their original Smoke Potion, an excellent and slightly sweet chipotle sauce to which they have added honey bourbon, mustard and smoked ghost pepper.

People asked for more heat and the alchemist delivered.
