Majestic Cocoa

Hey folks, remember how I just randomly mentioned Queen Majesty again, last week? For the first time in ages?

Well, believe it or not, it was entirely coincidental and today’s feature was an extremely last minute find. But I do have another of their sauces to show you and this one, in particular, is one that I’ve been waiting a long time for. Ever since the reveal of Hot Ones‘ season seventeen line-up.

The number six of that era, Queen Majesty’s Cocoa Ghost. Which stood out, to me, from the moment I first saw it, as something truly unique.

The Christmas Spirits

Merry christmas, everyone! Or christmas eve, I suppose, but it’s the closest that I’m going to get, what with my weekly, tuesday upload schedule. And I’m doing a themed post either way!

Why? Because I don’t make a penny from my blog work. I do this all for my own enjoyment. My passion for my craft and for others’ craft sauce.

It may seem cheesy to some of you but it’s a tonne of fun, for me, to break from the norm and force my writing to fit a secondary topic. Be it a holiday, a recent film or just a game that I’m into. And it’s even better when I get to explain a lesser known celebration, like walpurgis nacht.

I’m going to keep doing these seasonal specials and I’ll try my best to make them as topical as I can but today’s something of a weird one.

I can’t show you something all christmas gifty or suited for xmas eating, because no small business is going to offer next day delivery on the biggest holiday of the year. It has to be something that’ll still be relevant in the months to come, so here’s what I’ve come up with:

3Ghosts

The three ghosts of christmas.

Only, instead of past, present and future, we have Hot-Headz, Morrisons and Meat Lust. All three making full use of the legendary first superhot, yet each bringing its own flavour, texture and price point to the party.

Read on to see what I make of them.

Dying in Style

Well, it’s my birthday again but it might not be a happy one. Not when you’ve chosen what was probably the hottest and definitely the most expensive option on my poll.

This year’s extract sauce tasting is unlikely to be as brutal as 🔥 my first year’s 🔥 but I’m sure that it’ll at least give last year a run for its money. And it is, once again, two sauces.

Two sauces that I can’t show you until after the “Continue reading” button because one of them uses the F-word.

An Easter Add-On

Hello again everyone, I hope you had a great easter.

This week, I’m celebrating with some seriously hot chocolate so, if you didn’t get all the cocoa-based delight you wanted or, if you’re somehow still not sick of the stuff, read on for my thoughts on the Psycho Chocolate, from Doctor Burnorium’s Hot Sauce Emporium.

It just might be what you need to round off the festivities.

Psycho Killer – Garlic Edition

“Hallowed be thy pain” says today’s offering – A member of Doctor Burnorium’s ever-popular Psycho Juice line.

But this isn’t his 70% Scorpion, or even anything designed for fire over flavour, this is his Roasted Garlic Ghost. A sauce I bought as a bit of shameless self-indulgence.

Nutty Butters

Hey folks, happy pancake day!

Unfortunately, I haven’t managed to write a special blog post for my favourite food-based holiday this year.

I wanted to but, when I found out when the event was, I was too ill. In fact, I still am, to an extent.

Not ill enough to impair my brain function, anymore. I can write again but there is one thing that the remnants of my cold still have over me – I can’t trust my sense of taste right now. Or my sense of heat, for that matter.

So, instead of me writing something topical and special, here’s a post I pre-prepared about one or two of my weirder finds. A couple of the more out there products that I promised I’d be showcasing this year.

Today, I have a pair of peanut butters for you:

More Death from Devon

Happy tuesday again, folks, it’s time for another little hotty.

2017-11-29 13.06.57

This time, it’s Death at the Crimson Altar – One of Devon Chilli Man’s hottest, shown here in its more portable, karabiner-adorned, mini bottle. Perfect for those who want hot sauce on the go, a sample size before committing to the full thing or simply something small for christmas.

A Return to South Devon

Hey folks, today we have my favourite product from South Devon Chilli Farm:

2017-11-10 11.01.25

Because, while I sometimes love the really hot items, it’s not their 10/10 that most impressed me with flavour. It’s this, far milder, entry into their extreme heat range.

In fact, when I first fell in love with their Extreme Chilli Jam, it was a mere two point five. The start of its name felt like a joke. It was simply a delicious, medium jam with a difference.

But that’s changed.

Harissa Peppers

Twice in one weekend, eh? Who would have thought?

Well, I wasn’t planning on it but then I found these:

2017-10-31 21.35.27

Morrisons’ “Ghost Peppers” – Not the Bhut Jolokia we all know by that name but some pointy, white bells, intended to make cute little halloween ghosties with. Meant for stuffing.

Now, I might not normally be a fan of bell peppers, given how I tend to wake up the next day still tasting all the worst bits of them, but oranges and whites don’t have that effect on me. And the pointy ones are always a little nicer, anyway.

So I figured that I’d give them a go.

A New World’s Hottest?

So here’s something I’m sure you’ve all seen by now:

single (Daily Mirror)
dragon’s breath chilli, as seen in the Daily Mirror

Chilli Bob’s Farm’s and Tom Smith’s Plants’ dragon’s breath chilli. A tree-like plant that produces some small but supposedly extremely hot peppers with an average scoville rating of almost two and a half million.

Compared to the average heat of the current record holder, the carolina reaper (between 1.4 and 1.57 million, depending on when you take the record from), this is a massive step up. It even beats out the reaper’s 2.2 million peak.

Such a stunning heat difference that it has been all over the news and in social media feeds across the globe.
